I do hope ‘Minions & Monsters’ can deliver this upcoming weekend. We’re looking at shaky ground and industry projections are dropping which makes my numbers uneven. If ‘Minions’ ends up in the 80’s range of a debut we’re already looking at a weak debut, but any lower then the property may need to consider a step back. Personally, it’s my favourite of the ‘Minions’ saga, but I do think there’s a bumpy hill ahead.
Now with ‘Toy Story 5’ we’re looking at a 30’s range weekend. I’m suspecting it’ll be in the low 30’s but this film is poised to finish at the one billion mark. I don’t question its strength, but it’s the speed at which the film can get there.
Next we have ‘Obsession’ which is a juggernaut. I’m s proud of this film for the reason being its was my entry way into horror and its makes me excited for what’s next on the horizon for the cast involved. I truly believe this film will not only pass $400 million worldwide, but it’ll be an awards contender.
Lastly we have the debut of “Young Washington” which is Angel Studios play at a strong theatrical release since “Sound of Freedom”. I do think there’s a shot at it over performing, but it’ll definitely land in the upper teens. I’m thinking $16 million for its debut, but there may be a shot that it could be higher.
