Continuing onwards with “Star City” we’re seeing the plot move quickly. What do we see revealed in this episode? The American mole.
**please be advised we’re going into light spoilers**
Episode three titled, “Bad Dancer” we get to focus on the relationships of the show. First we have Tanya showing a clear distain for Star City and with Valya because of his secrecy. So how does Tanya kill the time and distain? By focusing on the hunt of illegal American records, but the issue we have that Irina overhears this and its reported.
Valya overhears the records of Tanya’s plans and they end up fighting with Valya feeling guilty and realizing there has been neglect on his end of the relationship. He decides to step up and take Tanya out for the evening to a show, but in reality we see there’s a double edge sword here because he steps out during the show and Tanya sees him talking to…?
Well that’s when we see Tanya puts together the pieces that Valya is the American mole.
Lest not we forget we still have our Chief Designer determined to make it to Venus and with a fast tracked mission to the Moon approaching this has to be executed swiftly and quickly. However, the Chief Designer and Sergi end up taking a huge step in their plan: recruiting Valya to train their crew for the secret mission.
Also we have Sasha who’s been rewarded with a mission to the Moon due to his agreement he marriage to Anastasia. He is to bold out the base on the Moon, but Sasha isn’t taking the assignment seriously and Valya calls him out on it. Now this only leads up to the build up tension of this episode because when the mission launches there is an unknown frequency that is discovered. The Chief Designer re4leases that this is a transmission to the Americans and that it’s a bug that’s been placed within the mission aircraft. Havoc occurs, Valya still escapes suspicions from being a spy by his government, but a death at the end of the episode shows that things are getting quite messy in Star City.
Now we’re heading into episode four titled, “Dark Forest” and it shoots to Irina. I quite like Irina’s role and seeing how her younger self played excellently by Agnes O’Casey has quite the task ahead of her. With the death of another cosmonaut, a mole known to us the audiences, and trying to find how this occurred and make sure it doesn’t occur again.
Irina is tasked by Colonel Raskova to find answers from the catastrophy that occurred by the evidence that was retrieved from the mission craft. Also keep in mind that Colonel Raskova is already in hot water with the Chief Designer (Rhys Ifans). Now trying to tread lightly because you need to watch this show in order to get the full understanding of it but we see all of our characters starting to crack under the pressure.
My biggest question though with Tanya knowing that Valya is a spy, will Tanya ever give him up?
The other main focus is that Star City is determined to land on Venus. He Chief Designer is looking through every nook and cranny to make sure this is viable. They bring in Chadma, a gifted Indian scientist to ensure that breathing will not be an issue on Venus’ inhospitable environment.
Also we’re checking in with Anastasia who feels a bit like a “hunger Games” victor being paraded around with a country’s agenda, but there’s a hallowness that is consuming her during her victory tour.
Now I’m cutting it off here because I’m suspecting a serious moment in events since we’re at the midpoint of the series, but I’ll check in next week to see where we land in this world of espionage.
Stay Tuned!
