Nicole's Film Perspectives

An Entertainment Rundown and Box Office Analysis

Nicole’s Film Perspectives is a podcast hosted by Joselyn Nicole. Every week, we go into depth on box office analysis, film reviews and our awards season predications. Never a slow moment for the world of film.

Weekend eight of the year ad it’s EPiC! We’re going back to the roots of where this all started – Elvis Presley. the reason why I came back to this media world was due to a small but mighty film titled “Elvis” released back in 2022. I campaigned so hard for Austin Butler to win for Best Actor that year during the Oscars and didn’t get my wish, but I did fall back in love with film. Now we’re here heading into the weekend of the limited IMAX run of the king and his story.

Se4rving as a wonderful companion piece, “EPiC” or “Elvis Presley In Concert” directed by the marvelous Baz Lurhmann hits theatres this weekend and I can’t recommend it enough. Fun review later today, but I’ll be typing it since my file was corrupted due to the epic impression this film left on me. However, we’ll see how it fares this weekend int he box office against the second weekend holds of “Wuthering Heights” and “Crime 101”. I’m expecting a significant drop for “Wuthering Heights” but I hope it’s not too severe.

However, “GOAT” looks to be the main competitor this upcoming weekend having some amazing day to day totals that are surpassing “Wuthering Heights”. We could be seeing another solid win for the animation genre and and expansion with more animation being more in demand for mainstream audiences. Check out the “Toy Story 5” trailer that dropped today and watch it be a big performer this summer as animation grows stronger in the box office.

Now, “Wuthering Heights” box office came in comparable to the sequels of “Fifty Shades” and not near the predications I was hoping. that predications came closer to the worldwide total debut of $80 million, but surprised by being stronger overseas. We’ll see how its second weekend holds but I do hear we’re in for a more underwhelming wave. Hopefully after this weekend it can have better week to week holds.

Also got to see Glen Powell’s “How To Make A Killing” and ironically enough it’s not killing in its box office debut weekend. It’s a charming film that plays very well to Powell’s strengths, but it also hasn’t been clicking in preticket sales. We’ll see how it comes together after this weekend.

Stay tune for BAFTA predications and film reviews coming up in the next day and let’s see how the box office pans out tis weekend.

Let’s see if my projections hit or do you have any further thoughts on where this box office can go?

Stay tune for the results and check out my predications!
