Box Office Analysis – Week 6

Sixth weekend in! We’re heading into Super Bowl LX! Which equates to a slower box office due to everyone’s eyes being on the game. However, we’re looking at ‘Send Help’ to conquer the box office yet again and that’s a major win for director Sam Raimi.

Now ‘Send Help’ squeaked out to the number one spot last week, but ‘Iron Lung’ was a tough competitor. It’s an admirable debut for both films, but quite impressive for ‘Iron Lung’ to a successful path forward. Now for Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien we’re looking at strong wins for them both in their box office tracks in the commercial space.

‘The Housemaid’ is looking at having a small drop if not minimal, even though it has its digital debut in the ancillary market. It’s a fantastic watch and I hope you do catch it!

However, the outlier here that isn’t looking to perform too stellar in this slower box office weekend is ‘The Strangers – Chapter 3’. The benefit for it is that its production budget is low, but its overall box office is on the decline. The first installment in the series wrapped up with $48.1 million worldwide and the second at $21.9 million worldwide. This expected last installment is already set on shaky ground.

Let’s see how the box office shakes out this weekend, but make sure to catch some awards contenders as well! There are rereleases for “Sinners”, “One Battle After Another” and “F1: The Movie” this weekend!
