Box Office Analysis – Week 4

Fourth weekend of 2026 and we’re in the middle of Oscars Nominations! However, we have a bit of a slump coming into the box office even with our new IMAX release ‘Mercy’.

I did have a chance to see Amazon MGM’s ‘Mercy’ at the NYC premiere the other night and the foundation of the film had potential, but it fails to hit the mark. We’ll see if it can translate into the box office this weekend and can finally dethrone ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, but there’s a potential it could land in second place if it can’t connect with audiences.

However, we have a bit of an upset arriving with “The Bone Temple” in its second weekend. It didn’t perform last holiday weekend and its expected to dwindle in theaters this upcoming weekend.

Additionally, we have to keep an eye out for ‘The Housemaid’ because another strong hold is expected yet again for this film. It’s been having phenomenal holds week to week and it hasn’t slowed down. It could potentially land in third place in its sixth weekend.

Lastly, let’s see how high ‘Zootopia 2’ can go! It’s already crowned as the highest grossing animated film of all time, but when will it cross $2 billion worldwide?
